Art and Design Technology
Art and DT are both valued topics within Rockliffe Manor. They are both taught throughout the year within our global themed curriculum. We believe that each child should be allowed to develop their own creative growth by raising their aspirations by teaching skills and techniques which they can use. This will encourage the children to realise there are no limits to what they can create. Our curriculum journey engages the children in current issues which are relevant to them linked to the global goals. Throughout the Inspire Partnership, creating a culture of excellence is used to build on skills that are needed to be successful members of the local and global community.
Within the Rockliffe Manor, creativity flourishes through a carefully crafted journey, both in sketch books and classroom displays. As well as enhancing subject knowledge, real life experiences are provided for the children to enrich their experiences. Trips are planned linked to the arts, whether it is music, dance or theatre, and a wide range of artists visit who share their skills to enhance specific subject knowledge. Throughout the primary years, each year group builds on prior knowledge and skills, adding to what they already know. The children will ultimately learn to develop their skills in:
- Drawing and Painting
- Printing
- Collage
- 3 Dimensional Design
- Textiles
- Collage
As well as this children will learn the techniques and styles of artists and how they have contributed to society throughout the ages.
